  1. New phone. Free advertizing!! Microsoft put out a new smartphone and by building a super phone to advertise its super phone got a lot of free publicity in newspaper and magazine stories. In celebration of three new Windows Phones hitting stores -- the Samsung Focus S, Focus Flash and HTC Radar 4G -- Microsoft has constructed a monstrous six-story "Windows Phone" just a few feet away from the world's largest Macy's store, right in the middle of one of the city's more popular outdoor picnic areas. The gadget sure is huge, but it's not a phone in the traditional sense -- enormous tiles display video feeds transmitted from a control room, and move out of place to accommodate live stage performances. We dropped by for a midday calisthenics session, which surprisingly appeared to be a hit with locals and tourists. There were functioning devices on hand as well, in a makeshift showroom, though those were far less popular than the 55-foot behemoth front and center.

  2. Berkshire began buying IBM shares this year after Buffett read the Armonk, New York-based company’s annual report and saw the firm “through a different lens,” the billionaire told CNBC today in an interview. IBM had doubled in New York trading in the 27 months prior to the Feb. 22 release of its yearly 10-K filing. Coca-Cola had doubled in the four years through the end of 1987, and has risen more than 10-fold since.

  3. RALPH LAUREN
Ralph Lauren is now 77yrs old. Mr. Lauren, the chairman and chief executive, was to receive a salary of $1.25 million as well as annual bonuses of as much as $19.5 million. And each year he was to get 100,000 options and 75,000 shares of restricted stock. Just think, it all started with him designing a neck tie.
